The SToP Glaucoma study is a current Wilmer Eye Institute clinical research program funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The study, conducted by the Dana Center for Preventive Ophthalmology, is looking to optimize approaches to identifying glaucoma among at-risk African-Americans and Hispanics, ages 50 years and older.
Led by Dr. David Friedman, the former Dana Center Director, the methodology being employed utilizes clinical research and community service to create a screening campaign to gain information about our at-risk population. Spanning over a 5 year period, the SToP Glaucoma study is split over three phases with a goal to recruit a large number of participants:
Phase 1: 700-1000 participants
Phases 2/3: 9000 participants
